How to care for 100% japanese kanekalon

Despite the fact that kanekalon does not require as much care as human hair if you follow a few rules it will last longer. Here are our tips:

  • comb the hair extension before and after each application
  • use a suitable brush (designed for hair extensions or Tangle teezer, brushes with bristles and beads on the ends are inappropriate)
  • in case of ruffling you can soak and apply a mask/conditioner. The fibres will be smoother and more pliable
  • avoid chemical treatments (kanekalon is a synthetic fibre and cannot be dyed or tinted)
  • the hair extension can be washed in a water bath with a little soap (leave the hair soak for 5 minutes and wash it gently)
  • avoid blow-drying, we recommend letting it dry freely
  • do not brush in wet condition
  • for heat treatments, it is necessary to first slightly moist the kanekalon (e.g. with a spray bottle) and comb it through; choose a lower temperature (170 degrees of Celsius) first and test on a thin strand how the heat works (you can increase the temperature if necessary but never leave the curling iron or iron in one place for more than a few seconds) 

Application

  1. Create a ponytail with your natural hair and secure it using a hair band.
  2. Attach the combs of the hair extension ponytail to the top of the ponytail that you just created.
  3. Next, lift the wraparound velcro strap connected to the weft, and pull it under the ponytail. 
  4. Continue wrapping the strap around your hair while securing the velcro.
  5. Try to wrap it as tight as you can to make sure that it's really secure.
  6. This will also hide the hairband. Keep the extensions in place using bobby pins.
  7. This kind of hairstyle perfectly holds all day long without need of any adjustments.
